HAWAII VOLCANOES NATIONAL PARK – I think we peaked too soon. We got to hang out with a pod of playful dolphins on the second full day of our trip? Really?
HO’OKENA BEACH, BIG ISLAND OF HAWAII — I’m not much of a water person, much less a beach person, but this day would turn out to be my favorite beach day, ever.
KONA, HAWAII — Turns out traffic in paradise can be hell. After a breakfast of French toast made with Punalu’u sweet bread, caramelized apples and cinnamon gastrique, we stopped at Costco to pick up supplies.
We felt a mix of exhaustion, anticipation and sadness when our cab picked us up at 5 am this morning to take us to the airport, and we said goodbye to our house for the last time.
